After seeing the Island from the sea, it is time to see it from the top. We came to the village of Plaka, the capital of Milos. On the top of the hill, there is Castle where we can enjoy magnificent view of the Island and Aegean Sea.

Day Cruise to West Side of the Island – Milos
Some of the best beaches in Milos are located on the west side of the Island, which only accessible only by boat. Best way to see these beaches are booking for the boat tour. Boat tours usually depart from the marina at Adamas and go west side of the island, or some tour go around the island.
Beach Hopping in Milos (North Side)
After strong wind from north died down, it was time to explore magnificent beaches on the north side of the island. Fortunately most of them were easily accessible by car and no hiking required.
Beach Hopping in Milos (South Side)
The moment I saw the picture of a beach in Milos in magazine, I decided to go there. About one year later, here I am at the Greek Island of Milos. Milos is known as the place where the famous Venus de Milo was found, and also known as beautiful beaches with drastic coast line and spectacular volcanic rock formations. We we spent almost our entire stay in the Island for beach hopping. Here are some of the beaches on south side of the island.
Oasis of Peace and Seclusion – Katergo Beach
Katergo Beach is probably nicest beach on the island of Folegandros. It is very private and secluded, which means it is not easy to get to. It is accessible either with boat or about 30 minutes hike. Since there was no boat going to the beach that day, we decided to hike to the beach. All the hard work paid off… the beach sits at the bottom of the cliff and the view from the top of the cliff was absolutely stunning! (can’t see this view with easy boat ride)
Clothing-Optional? Folegandros Beaches (West Side)
Folegandros seems like mini-version of Santorini, one thing Folegandros has and Santorini doesn’t is beaches … beautiful, secluded, pristine beaches!! Most beaches are not easy to get to. We need to drive unpaved road, then hike. And don’t expect to get beach chairs, parasol and pina colada as these beaches are very natural and secluded. Even clothing is optional.
Folegandros – A Hidden Gem of the Greek Islands
Flegandros is very small, low-key, yet it has all the beautiful characteristics of what I imagine a Greek Island. This small island is, for me, a small version of Santorini with clusters of white boxy houses on the hills and cliff drops to the water. The town of Chora is very picturesque with cute white house and hotels, restaurants decorated with colorful flowers.
Praia de Beliche – Appreciating real Algarve beauty
A short drive from the town of Sagres, we ended up with Beliche Beach “Praia de Beliche”. Looking down from the cliff, there was a very beautiful golden sandy beach surrounded these giant cliff. A little hike down to the beach from the parking lot but I didn’t mind at all because the scenery was so beautiful. It’s definitely worth stopping by here.

Sagres – Small beach town with dramatic scenery of Algarve
Located in the most southern west of Portugal, Sagres is a small beach town with amazing view of the ocean. The town is very low-key, laid-back, and nothing like other towns in Algarve. Cappuccino in the morning, gelato in the afternoon, and wine in the evening… the town was so small yet it had everything I wanted, plus whatever I did, I could always enjoy panorama view of the ocean and beautiful coast line of Algarve!
