48 hours in Kyoto in Fall: Day 2 – Walking around old town of Kyoto

On second day in Kyoto, we decided to visit another World Heritage site, Kiyomizudera Temple and other temples around it. There are a few beautiful temples close by, and because Kiyomizudera is one of the most popular tourist spots in Kyoto, there are a lot of shops and restaurants on the way to the temple. We could spend easily one day to walk to the temple and back.

If you want to see Japanese old architectures, Kyoto is the place to visit. Kyoto is beautiful place as it is. But if you can, you should go there in fall, when maple tree leaves turn red. The combination of old wood building and red, orange, yellow color make Kyoto even more beautiful and picturesque.

Beach Hopping in Milos (South Side)

The moment I saw the picture of a beach in Milos in magazine, I decided to go there. About one year later, here I am at the Greek Island of Milos. Milos is known as the place where the famous Venus de Milo was found, and also known as beautiful beaches with drastic coast line and spectacular volcanic rock formations. We we spent almost our entire stay in the Island for beach hopping. Here are some of the beaches on south side of the island.

Oasis of Peace and Seclusion – Katergo Beach

Katergo Beach is probably nicest beach on the island of Folegandros. It is very private and secluded, which means it is not easy to get to. It is accessible either with boat or about 30 minutes hike. Since there was no boat going to the beach that day, we decided to hike to the beach. All the hard work paid off… the beach sits at the bottom of the cliff and the view from the top of the cliff was absolutely stunning! (can’t see this view with easy boat ride)

Clothing-Optional? Folegandros Beaches (West Side)

Folegandros seems like mini-version of Santorini, one thing Folegandros has and Santorini doesn’t is beaches … beautiful, secluded, pristine beaches!! Most beaches are not easy to get to. We need to drive unpaved road, then hike. And don’t expect to get beach chairs, parasol and pina colada as these beaches are very natural and secluded. Even clothing is optional.
