On second day in Kyoto, we decided to visit another World Heritage site, Kiyomizudera Temple and other temples around it. There are a few beautiful temples close by, and because Kiyomizudera is one of the most popular tourist spots in Kyoto, there are a lot of shops and restaurants on the way to the temple. We could spend easily one day to walk to the temple and back.

Beautiful Day in San Francisco and Taste of Yosemite
I’ve been to San Francisco a few times in the past, but I had never seen the entire bridge due to the thick fog. Last time I wan in San Francisco, I could not see the bridge even though I was on it! This time I was so lucky that I could see the entire bridge and enjoyed the beautiful city of San Francisco.
Panoramic View from Palka and Sunset from Pollonia – Milos
After seeing the Island from the sea, it is time to see it from the top. We came to the village of Plaka, the capital of Milos. On the top of the hill, there is Castle where we can enjoy magnificent view of the Island and Aegean Sea.
Day Cruise to West Side of the Island – Milos
Some of the best beaches in Milos are located on the west side of the Island, which only accessible only by boat. Best way to see these beaches are booking for the boat tour. Boat tours usually depart from the marina at Adamas and go west side of the island, or some tour go around the island.
Beach Hopping in Milos (North Side)
After strong wind from north died down, it was time to explore magnificent beaches on the north side of the island. Fortunately most of them were easily accessible by car and no hiking required.
Beach Hopping in Milos (South Side)
The moment I saw the picture of a beach in Milos in magazine, I decided to go there. About one year later, here I am at the Greek Island of Milos. Milos is known as the place where the famous Venus de Milo was found, and also known as beautiful beaches with drastic coast line and spectacular volcanic rock formations. We we spent almost our entire stay in the Island for beach hopping. Here are some of the beaches on south side of the island.
Oasis of Peace and Seclusion – Katergo Beach
Katergo Beach is probably nicest beach on the island of Folegandros. It is very private and secluded, which means it is not easy to get to. It is accessible either with boat or about 30 minutes hike. Since there was no boat going to the beach that day, we decided to hike to the beach. All the hard work paid off… the beach sits at the bottom of the cliff and the view from the top of the cliff was absolutely stunning! (can’t see this view with easy boat ride)
Clothing-Optional? Folegandros Beaches (West Side)
Folegandros seems like mini-version of Santorini, one thing Folegandros has and Santorini doesn’t is beaches … beautiful, secluded, pristine beaches!! Most beaches are not easy to get to. We need to drive unpaved road, then hike. And don’t expect to get beach chairs, parasol and pina colada as these beaches are very natural and secluded. Even clothing is optional.
